• The Boys Recreation Centre at Gandhi Maidan at Chembur had been serving as a base for YMCA community outreach even before the Chembur branch was created in 1975. The branch was inaugurated on April 25, 1975.
  • Despite the enthusiasm of the members of the branch. It suffered for want of its own premises. Having failed to secure premises for the branch, by 1990 the chembur branch came to be merged with the Ghatkopar branch and was termed as Ghatkopar-Chembur branch.
